Looking after the Common

The main ingredients of the Quantock Common are

  • maritime heath (aka the Quantock heather/gorse/whortleberry mixture)
  • woodland
  • grassland
  • wildlife especially red deer, sheep and ponies

When mixed together in the right proportions, they give Quantock Common its special look of natural beauty. BUT keeping the right balance of ingredients gives the AONB service a lot of challenges!
